Tribute to the ‘gentleman’ and grandfather who died in a car crash in Co Tipperary

TRIBUTES was paid to a Co Tipperary grandfather and “gentleman” who died in a crash on Sunday.

Pat Meehan, aged 70, died after he was hit by a car while walking in Cahir, Co Tipperary on Sunday.

Pedestrians rushed to University Hospital Cork by emergency services but later passed away.

Pat is a husband, father of three and grandfather of eight children and “sorries” his family.

Praises poured in with some describing Pat as a “gentleman” and a “great friend”.

A family friend said: “Our deepest sympathies with all of the family, Pat was just one of our first acquaintances when my brother moved into bally looby, a gentleman. adorable, kind, funny that he will miss very much.

‘GOOD FRIEND’

Another said: “So sorry to hear about Pat’s sad loss. A wonderful friend and gentleman, may he rest in peace.”

Another family friend said: “Great and happy memories at Phil Boyles farm. A true gentleman. May he rest in peace.”

Another added that Pat will be “missed”, especially in Cahir.

Pat’s funeral will take place at 11am on Saturday at St Kieran’s Church, Ballylooby. He will be laid to rest in the adjacent cemetery.

Gardai now call for witnesses to proceed and any passerby with video footage is required to provide it.

LIMERICK CRASH

Meanwhile, a man was left with “serious injuries” after a car crash in Limerick on Ballyneety Sunday night.

One man suffered head and lower body injuries.

He was taken to the University of Limerick Hospital, and the road has since been reopened.

ONE Garda A spokesman said: “Gardai attended the incident of a single vehicle Road traffic incident at Ballyneety on Sunday 9order January 2022 at 23:03 pm.

“One man suffered serious head and lower body injuries and was taken to the University of Limerick Hospital.

“The road has reopened.”
