Tributes to 12-year-old boy killed in Crawley crash

Tributes have been received for a 12-year-old boy who was killed when he was hit by a car.

The boy, known locally as Tyler Wills, was struck at Crawley Avenue, Crawley, around 2:45 p.m. Friday.

Flowers, tributes and a picture of Tyler were placed near the crash site, and candles and teddy bears were placed on railings nearby.

A fundraiser was set up by friends of the family, who have already raised more than £9,000 to pay for funeral expenses and a headstone.

It aims to give Tyler “the best send-off he deserves.”

The tributes left at the crash site include notes that read “Fly high with the angels” and that he would be “missed beyond measure.”

A heartbreaking tribute from Tyler’s parents calls him “our darling, Tyler.”

It said: “The first thing we remember is your beautiful smile, your kind heart and how caring you were towards everyone.

“The memories you left us will stay with us forever.”

It states that Tyler is the “best son, brother, grandson and nephew we could ever ask for.”

The note adds: “We hope you’re smiling and looking down on us up there. As we know, you are the brightest star in the night sky.

“Some think goodbyes are forever, but they’re not. Saying goodbye is easy, we will miss you until we meet again. We hope to see you every night we dream, missing you will be a heartache that will never go away.

“We love you, our darling, Tyler.”

Tyler is said to have been on his way home from school and crossed the street near a flooded underpass.

Workers were at the underpass this morning to empty it.

Sussex Police said no arrests had been made and the driver pulled over at the scene after the accident.

The force said they are in touch with them and the family.
