A “beloved grandson, son and nephew” with a “beautiful smile” who was killed in a tragic accident has been identified as Isaac Matthew Crofts.

Isaac was killed in the tragedy, which took place on Grampian Road in Skelton around 2pm on Friday – after horrified locals desperately tried to save the boy.

Cleveland Police Department said his family was devastated by his death and asked for privacy as they began to mourn the unimaginable loss of a child.

Police officers are supporting the family at this very sad time.

Since then, hundreds of messages of support have been posted on social media, with one person saying: “Bless his little heart and his family is going through such a sad time, it’s just beyond imagination.

“I hope your little rainbow rides. Lots of love to all family members.”

Another said: “Absolutely heartbreaking to send lots of love to the family at this very sad time.”






A fatal accident occurred on the Grampian Road in Skelton

“RIP kid play with Angels now,” one person wrote.

“I am sending his family lots of love and many comforting prayers.

“From a mother who knows the pain of losing a child, God bless you all.”

Both Cleveland Police and the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) attended the Grampian Road tragedy on Saturday.

A spokesman for GNAAS said: “Our critical care team was activated at 2.10pm to receive reports of a road traffic accident in Skelton.

“Upon arrival on site, our paramedic and medical team assessed and treated a patient.”






Both the Cleveland Police and the Great North Air Ambulance Service were called to the Grampian Road

“The patient was taken to the hospital by a road crew from the North East Ambulance Service.”

A spokesman for the Cleveland Police Department said: “Police would once again like to thank the members of the public who assisted at the scene.

“We understand that this tragic incident will impact many people in the skelton community.”
