Oh my god, my newest obsession is Cian Ducrot, a Corkonian.
his great Passage West singer-songwriter has become famous and is signed to the same label as Billie Eilish.
Besides his amazing voice, he is a great lyricist. I swear the way he sings about heartache and trauma — like in the heartbreaking All For You — feels like a free therapy session, something I think we all need to do at some point in life to feel happier and one with ourselves.
Being content and accepting of who we are, with warts and all, is my best beauty advice. I may write about tips, tricks, and products to make us feel beautiful, but I’m aware that they’re usually just temporary solutions meant to complement the self-care we should be practicing every day.
Putting your own happiness first will not only make you look more beautiful, it will also make you a more beautiful person. Now listen to Cian Ducrot and take a little time out for yourself to become part of your beauty routine.
This is your seasonal reminder folks! Get a cut, apply nourishing hair masks, invest in some silk pillowcases and use a hair oil. Fluctuating temperatures can dry out your tresses, so treat your tresses now before things get out of hand as winter approaches.

Keeping a stash of well-designed bottles that exude style is a trend that will instantly brighten up a bedside table, vanity, or your Insta feed!
Jo Malone London English Pear & Freesia has a new bottle. This special edition cologne, €62, Brown Thomas has a beautiful fluted glass design and the scent couldn’t be more appropriate for autumn. Imagine the smell of a pear garden, with fruit trees ready to be harvested, and you will know if this perfume is for you or not. The scent is softened by amber, patchouli and woods. It’s not scathingly sweet, so it’s sure to appeal to most of us.
And if you really want to wrap yourself in it, the scent will also have a limited edition in body cream, hand cream and shower gel. The home collection, which includes a diffuser and a candle, is also a must-have. See brownthomas.com
Concealers are all about the magic wand. Bobbi Brown Skin Full Cover Concealer, €32, Brown Thomas, has a fabulous formula, but the wand shape is key. It goes right into creases and I think it’s fabulous for covering under-eye circles or blemishes and blemishes alike.
I recently took part in Ireland AM’s Baby on Board series which is all about babies/pregnancy and it reminded me how everything changes when you have children. Your social life, your friendships, your body – even your skin. We don’t all experience that cliche pregnancy glow when we have a baby on board, and that’s perfectly fine. If your skin is feeling the effects of all those inevitable hormonal changes, here are some top products to help you feel your best on the whole weird and wonderful journey to motherhood.
It’s no surprise that pregnancy makes you very vigilant about what you put in and use in your body. If anyone had seen my Google searches from back then, they would have laughed for sure. It is important that any product is safe during pregnancy. So be sure to read the label and consult your doctor if you have any concerns. The Internet may not be a reliable source!
For anyone suffering from pregnancy acne, check out Skinician Advanced Pro-Radiance Enzyme Cleanser, €36, skinician.com. This is a gentle product that deeply cleanses the skin while exfoliating for a more radiant complexion. It has a blend of natural fruit AHAs and prickly pear to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process.
Since all sorts of smells and tastes can make you nauseous during pregnancy, be sure to look for odorless and fragrance-free products that won’t get in the way of your daily routine. Something as simple as switching to a natural deodorant like Caudalie Vinofresh Natural Stick Deodorant, €14, Harvey Nichols makes things a little more bearable while keeping you sweat-free.
Many people associate Bio-Oil Boots with pregnancy and it was one of the first beauty products I reached for knowing my body was about to change. It’s packed with botanical extracts and essential oils to fight stretch marks.
Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil, €43, Arnotts, is another favorite of mine as it promotes elasticity, lifts and lifts and has an anti-stretch mark effect – ideal during pregnancy.
It’s always important to stay hydrated—even more so when you’re becoming a human. As well as drinking plenty of water, make sure you hydrate with a cream for all skin types and sensitivities. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Sensitive Rich Moisturizer For Sensitive Skin, €19, boots and pharmacies nationwide is ideal – and so gentle and safe it’s suitable for babies.
