Tristan Thompson told fans he was “always late” after his baby mum Maralee Nichols allegedly asked him to pay for child support.
The 31-year-old NBA star admitted fathering his son with the personal trainer in January – only after a DNA test proved conclusive.
After paternity was confirmed, Maralee, 31, is said to be asking Tristan for £35,000 a month, while reports claim Khloe Kardashian’s ex had ‘refused’ to support the child financially.
However, in his latest Instagram post, the basketball player did nothing to quash the rumors – and fans aren’t happy.
Sharing a picture of him wearing patchwork jeans, Louis Vuitton slippers and sunglasses, he wrote, “They say good things take time, that’s why I’m always late,” with a devilish, hushed face and a winking emoji.
The cryptic post was not well received, with many of Tristan’s followers slamming the athlete for his seemingly shallow comment.
One said, “Late on child support,” and another added, “Oh, that’s why child support is late?!”
Meanwhile, a third fumed: “Always late to pay your baby mama’s checks.”
Maralee has filed for a “monthly child support policy of $47,424” for her son Theo US Weekly.
She has also reportedly asked the court to order the NBA star to pay her legal fees, which exceeded $1 million.
However, personal trainer rep Harvey Englander said page six : “Despite media reports to the contrary, Tristan Thompson has done nothing to support his son.
“He has not attempted to meet her son, nor has he provided any financial support.”
The Mirror has reached out to Tristan representatives for comment.
Tristan is also a father to Khloe’s daughter True and five-year-old son Prince with his ex Jordan Craig.
The athlete apologized to the Good American founder after previously denying having anything to do with Maralee’s son.
Khloe recently opened up to Variety about the Kardashians’ upcoming Hulu show and revealed that she will touch on Tristan’s infidelity.
She said: “It’s addressed on the show. We try as a family to protect the privacy of our partners or significant others as they haven’t actually signed up for it; we did it.
“But if something like this is really public, it would be weird if Tristan was part of the show and then all of a sudden he disappears and we never talk about it.”
“So yes, we’re addressing it. I always try to be as respectful as possible, but it’s reality.”
