Trump drags DeSantis to ‘hell’ in attack on low poll numbers

Donald Trump is excited about the declining political fortunes of Ron DeSantis, the Florida governor and the former president’s main rival for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

Trump declared the five-week-old DeSantis campaign “DEAD” and said his poll numbers were “dropping like a stone on the road to hell.”

Trump also shared a series of polls showing he’s trailing DeSantis in several states.

Of course, the former president has also heavily criticized the federal government for the 37-point indictment against him in the confidential documents scandal and the ongoing investigation into his role in the attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social website:

It’s the second time in just over a month that Trump has conjured up images of hell in his feud with DeSantis.

In May, shortly after the Florida governor announced that he was running for president, Trump released manipulated audio recordings of DeSantis participating in a conversation with the devil, Adolf Hitler and Elon Musk, among others.

DeSantis was once a Trump supporter and even ran an ad during his 2018 gubernatorial campaign in which he and his wife flattered the then-president.

That changed last year when it was revealed that DeSantis was planning to challenge Trump for the presidential nomination. The former president escalated his attacks on DeSantis, boasted about the rise of the Florida governor and claimed he cried as he begged Trump for support.

DeSantis has largely refrained from fighting back.
