TUI has changed the airport where Brits land when visiting Orlando – which will make it harder for Disney holidays.
Flights from the UK now land in Orlando Melbourne, which is nearly 80 miles from Disney World.
Flights previously landed at Orlando Sandford Airport, just 40 miles away.
The change is expected to add an additional 30 minutes to the journey, although it could take much longer during busier holiday periods.
Flights departing from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh are affected.
Other airlines such as British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly direct to Orlando International Airport which is less than 20 miles away Disney World.
It’s a short 20 minute drive and there are direct shuttle buses too.
However, there is some good news for all Brits who don’t plan on hitting the theme parks when they visit Orlando.
The airport is located on Florida’s “Space Coast” and is the closest airport to the Kennedy Space Center.
It’s also just a few miles from some of Orlando’s most popular beaches, as well as Port Canaveral, which offers a number of cruises including Disney cruises.
The airline announced that it would make the switch back in 2019As Dawn Wilson, Managing Director of TUI Airways, said: “Our new Orlando gateway will be perfectly located to offer TUI UK customers total flexibility to design their holiday around any combination of theme parks, beaches or cruises.”
A couple recently went to Disney World after their wedding — and she did Turn off the entire Magic Kingdom for a fairytale wedding after the party.
Guests could ride roller coasters without waiting in line, eat Disney-style food, and dance in front of the legendary Cinderella’s Castle.
In other TUI news, Brits with holiday plans ahead have been warned against falling victim to one Online phishing scam.
The tour operator was made aware of a scam received by some of its customers tweets from an unknown account, with a request to send personal information in an email.
TUI warned people not to reply to the tweet or to send details to the email address and to contact them if they are unsure if it is genuine.
The airline has too scrapped its face mask policy on board its flights, so passengers on flights to and from England and Northern Ireland no longer have to carry them.
