TV bosses are in a six-figure bidding war to sign up for Oti Mobuse after she took a serious break from Dancing.

She is said to have been flooded with offers, led by ITV and Channel 4.

“Oti is taking her time deciding on the right jobs,” said a source close to the star. One TV industry insider told us: “The BBC knows they’ve lost a big fortune but can’t compete with commercial channels that will allow her to make other deals.”

Professional dancer Oti, 31, announced her departure from the BBC’s Saturday night primetime show after seven years this week.

“It was an incredible time,” she said. Lift Glitterball twice and have the most amazing journey with all my celebs. I will always remember Serious, and the BBC that brought me to the UK. I can’t put into words how difficult this decision has been, but I’ve decided not to come back for the next series.”

The eight-time Latin American champion South Africa is the only professional to win two films in a row – in 2019 with actor Kelvin Fletcher and in 2020 with comic Bill Bailey.

TV sources believe she could be as famous as Holly Willoughby, who is estimated to earn £730,000 a year hosting This Morning for ITV.

Over the past year, ITV has starred Oti in The Masked Dancer, Dancing on Ice and Romeo & Duet.

She was also mentored by Channel 4’s Packed Lunch star Steph McGovern when presenting to them in the fall.

Television and celebrity expert Mark Borkowski calculates Oti could make more than £1m over the next year or two from TV gigs and deals.

He added: “We’ve seen people come and go but every channel wants a piece of Oti’s magic.”
