TV presenter Katja Mia: “Manifesting every day and staying spiritual is 100 percent how I got to where I am with hard work and patience”

Katja Mia grew up in Blanchardstown and studied International Finance, Economics and German in Maynooth. Having worked as a model at 1st Option, as a YouTuber and content creator, she decided to quit her job in the financial sector during the pandemic to pursue her dream of presenting on television. What is your earliest memory?

Equip a Pokémon bike with stabilizers for Christmas. I was about five years old.

When and where were you happiest?

When I’m at home with my family and friends, I laugh, eat and dance.

What is your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is not getting where I can be because of doubt and fear. Nothing keeps me up at night and I can sleep like a bear during hibernation.

What is your least and most attractive quality?

I’m not as organized at home as I am at work, and then my most appealing quality is that I get along with everyone.

What quality do you regret most in others?

When people don’t speak up, when they see others being teased and just watch, or when people are rude to strangers.

What is the first thing you would do if you were the Taoiseach?

I would make racism illegal and build so many blocks of affordable housing.

Who would you most like to have a beer with?

beyonce I would quiz her about every single song and album she made and search her brain for creative ideas. In my opinion she is one of the greatest entertainers of my generation and one of my idols.

What is your most prized possession?

photos and my laptop. Treasures include photos I have from my parents’ collection, such as photos of them in Burundi and of the deceased, which are priceless.

What’s your guiltiest pleasure?

The whole Real housewives Franchise. My two favorite series at the moment are The real housewives of Atlanta and The real housewives of the Potomac.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

Work on yourself if you want everything else to work for you.

When was the last time you cried and why?

Last week I booked tickets to a cancer benefit concert and it reminded me that I lost my uncle to cancer in 2020.

Who would play you in a movie of your life?

Angela Bassett because she kills it in everything she does.

Do you believe in a god and is there life after death?

Yes and yes.

What’s the last TV show you binge watched?

Emily in Paris. I’ve been to Paris a few times and watched the show’s third season on Christmas Eve while packing and cooking.

What advice would you give your 18 year old self?

Stop worrying about whether or not you look skinny and whether you’ll ever get your first kiss.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Travel anywhere in a minute.

What was your most embarrassing moment?

Running on the treadmill at the gym and accidentally peeing. Nobody saw it.

What was the worst job you’ve ever done?

I’ve worked at two banks since college as a depositary analyst, and one of those jobs was my worst work experience. I was afraid of work before I started due to pressure.

Tell us a secret…

I’m going on vacation to the Dominican Republic. It’s been a busy year, so it’s a long overdue beach vacation.

Which book would you have liked to have written?

manifest by Roxie Nafousi. I’ve been practicing manifesting since 2020. I read first The secret and I started journaling a lot and writing in the future tense, like being thankful for what I have when you’re actually writing about what you want. The book manifestsIt goes a little bit deeper and I really feel that daily practice and spiritual abiding is a 100 percent factor in how along with the hard work and patience I got to where I am.

Which character from the story would you have liked to meet and what would you like to talk about? Whoever was the first European to start colonialism and told them it was a bad idea.

What song would you like to play at your funeral?
