Will Smith’s behavior at the Oscars ceremony sparked outrage among television viewers – with many complaining to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), according to reports.
The 53-year-old actor has come under fire in recent days after he stormed into a Chris Rock comic and slapped him around the face after he joked about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
And now a total of 66 viewers have complained to the FCC – a US government agency that regulates television, according to TMZ.
It claims that viewers are calling for fines and even calling for BLM.
In the complaints obtained by the store, people have emailed about what they saw on Sunday night, with many remaining very angry.
According to TMZ, one viewer from Michigan wrote: “The level of violence from a black man on another about something he doesn’t like to hear is unbearable!! Can you stand it!! hey??? Think black lives are important?? Obviously not!” ! Is that your message???? Smith should be fined and suspended!!!! “
Another wrote: “Obviously, the Oscars crossed the line last night. I don’t need to worry about what MY SON will hear during the Oscars presentation. No broadcast delay for any reason whatsoever. I need to be fined and everyone needs to be fired for this. Haven’t we learned anything in the decades since the Super Bowl fell? a simple job. Let’s do it!”
Meanwhile, the publication reports the number of parents complaining about their children watching an assault live on TV.
It comes after Oscar organizers announced Will was asked to leave the Academy Awards following his altercation with Chris, but he refused and doing so violated the code of conduct.
The organization said in a statement: “Things turned out in a way that we could not have foreseen.
“While we would like to clarify that Mr Smith was asked to leave the ceremony and declined, we also recognize that we could have handled the situation differently.”
Many have asked why Will was still able to sit in the spectator chair after the slap, but it looks like the academy set the record straight away.
Later, TMZ reported that Will was “never” asked to leave the ceremony, according to sources.
