Directing isn’t the only work Amblin is doing on “Twisters”. Deadline also stated that the company is looking to bring Hunt back as the storm Jo-chaser, but her involvement is yet to be confirmed. It remains unclear what the film’s plans are to address the absence of Bill Paxton, who plays Jo’s estranged husband, also named Bill. Needless to say, it is shaped like the original in that it is both a domestic drama and an epic disaster film.
These plans are quite different from those originally predicted when news of a “Twister” revival began in 2020. / Movies previously reported that the series will be rebooting, potentially episode focuses on new characters but stays in the world set out in the original. It’s unclear when the transition from the reboot to the sequel will be made, but it’s probably an effective change, especially if the focus is on the mother-child relationship.
“Twisters” likely won’t enter filming for a while, but here’s hoping we’ll have more news on this sequel soon.
