Twitter ‘down’ – app ‘not working’ as thousands of users report major outage
TWITTER appears to have crashed in a major outage, frustrated users say.
Thousands of users have complained that the app is not working.
Reports of website and app errors poured into online outage tracker Down Detector on Wednesday.
Most of the users reported problems with the Twitter website, although around a third of the complaints were linked to the app.
It is currently unclear what caused the Twitter outage.
The US sun reached out to Twitter for comment and will update this story with every reply.
In a bizarre coincidence, the Twitter troubles came just minutes after a major Facebook and Instagram outage.
The three apps are used by billions of users, but all have gone down under mysterious circumstances.
Some users can still access Twitter while others cannot access the social media site at all.
One Down Detector user wrote: “Both web and mobile are down. Elon needs to stop disconnecting the servers lol.”
Another said: “Twitter followers limit reached and DMs are gone. I can’t follow back or message anyone.”
And one frustrated user wrote: “Tweets, RTs, DMs and QRTs are not being sent or received.”
Several users reported receiving a message that they had reached the daily limit for sending tweets.
Direct messages also seem to be broken for some users.
The official Twitter API status page states that all systems are up and running.
But it is clear that there is a big problem with Twitter.
The US Sun is having trouble accessing Twitter as part of the outage.
It appears to be a global problem, including major outages in the US and UK.
