Twitter users are asking Elon Musk to quit after the billionaire was “voted out” in his own poll

MILLIONS of Twitter fans have told Elon Musk to quit running the social network in a shock poll published by the man himself.

The no longer richest person in the world has urged the public to decide whether to step down as CEO after a tumultuous takeover of the company.

Musk, 51, has recognized the value of his crown jewel Tesla amid the Twitter drama of recent months.

The latest outrage came when he banned links to competing social networks like Instagram and Facebook.

He also faced backlash for banning some journalists’ accounts – before later unblocking them.

The billionaire launched a poll on Sunday asking users to decide his fate.

“Should I resign as Twitter boss?” he said.

“I will stick to the results of this poll.”

More than 17.5 million people voted, and 57.5 percent said he should go.

Musk has made a habit of asking the public to make big decisions, often citing the phrase “vox populi, vox dei,” which is Latin for “the voice of the people is the voice of God.”

“As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for as you may get it,” he said in a follow-up tweet.

The SpaceX founder was last seen at the World Cup finals on Sunday alongside Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

In a series of major changes recently, Musk also banned @elonjet, an account that tracks his private jet in real-time with publicly available data.

He had threatened legal action against the operator of the account, saying his son had been mistakenly stalked by a “crazy stalker.”

The most notable shock was when he opened up blue tick verification badges to everyone – for a price.

Musk paid $44 billion for Twitter in October after a messy legal battle in which he tried to pull out of his purchase of the social network.

He fired thousands of employees from the company to turn the tide.

Others have resigned in protest.
