Two arrested for knife possession in Worthing

TWO men in their 40s have been arrested on suspicion of carrying a knife on a city center street.

Police are asking for witnesses after a PCSO on patrol was stopped by members of the public who reported seeing the men wielding the blade in Ann Street, Worthing, around 3.45pm on September 5.

A description was given to other officers who discovered and arrested two men matching the description in Denton Gardens on Brighton Road. A knife was found nearby and seized.

The two Worthing men, 44 and 47, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife in public.

They were released under investigation pending further investigation.

Investigating Officer, PC Shaun Moreland, said: “This incident shows the value of our PCSOs who are on daily patrol where they can engage with the public and efficiently report incidents.

“We would always encourage the public to contact our officers to report a crime or suspicious activity.
