Two dead and an infant among those hospitalized after a horrific accident near Garda

Three people have died in road accidents in Limerick and Mayo overnight.

A man and woman in their 30s were killed when the car they were traveling in collided with a van in Ballycarrane, Patrickswell, Co Limerick on Sunday night.

A man in his 40s died early Monday morning after a traffic accident on Achill Island.

Gardaí in Limerick are appealing for witnesses after two fatalities in the collision involving a car and van on the N21 in Patrickswell.

The deceased, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were taken to Limerick University Hospital.

The occupants of the van, a man and woman in their 20s and a baby boy, were taken to Limerick University Hospital for treatment but are believed to be unharmed at this time.

The road is currently closed for investigation by Forensic Collision Investigators and local detours are in place.

Gardaí in Westport are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision at Dooagh in Keel, Achill, Co Mayo which occurred at around 3:15am.

The collision involved a car and a pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has since been taken to Mayo University Hospital.

No other injuries were reported, Gardaí said.

The scene is currently being preserved for forensic collision investigators and Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to get in touch.

All road users who have been in the area and may have camera footage (including dashcam) are asked to provide it to the Gardaí investigation.
