Two Dublin families jointly claim €2million in lottery winnings

TWO players from Dublin claimed a total of €2 million in prizes won online in Lotto and EuroMillions draws.

A Dublin family took home a €1million prize won in the Lotto Plus 1 drawing on Wednesday 1st February.

Wanting to remain private, the winning family said it was an ordinary evening at their home before they realized they had won the lottery.

They said: “It was a normal chilled night in front of the TV.

“I actually forgot to check my ticket until I got an email saying I’d won something; I was expecting €3 or €4.

“Then I saw that it was a million euros and I almost fell off my seat.”

They revealed what they would use the winning prize for when they said: “Winning will take some of the pressure off and will definitely make life that little bit easier.

“In the long term we hope to get our forever home, but in the short term we want to celebrate by making our first-ever trip to Anfield to see Liverpool play and spending a holiday at Center Parcs in Longford.”

Another winner from Dublin to win a €1million prize this afternoon was a married couple who won the special EuroMillions draw on Friday 3rd February.

The couple, who also wanted to remain private, said: “We both have terrible eyesight and when I got the email saying I’d won I mistakenly thought it said €1,000 so I called my wife to get a look but then I realized it was actually 1 million euros and my hands started shaking and sweating.

The woman said: “He’s a little prankster so I told him to get away from me because I thought it was one of his pranks!

“Then I looked at the ticket and couldn’t believe my eyes.”

They said they would use it to pay off their mortgage on their house and go on a family vacation.

The wife joked, “I’m going into mid-life crisis and buying a Porsche.”

DONEGAL WINNER

Meanwhile, a player from Donegal won a €1 million prize from the special EuroMillions draw on Friday 3rd February.

The player wished to keep his winnings a secret and bought his winning ticket on the day of the draw from the Burnfoot Service Station in Grianian Vale, Burnfoot, Co. Donegal.
