A full investigation is underway in Co Wicklow after two men were violently attacked during a serious burglary in Arklow.
The two victims – a man in his 30s and another in his 40s – were taken by ambulance to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin for treatment of their injuries, which were described as non-life threatening.
Gardaí have issued a public appeal for all witnesses to the incident, which took place at a residential property at The Links in Arklow around 1.30pm on Saturday.
A number of men are understood to have broken into the apartment, which is on the south side of town on a road leading to Arklow Golf Club.
A local resident said “violent roars and screams” could be heard at the property just before gardaí and emergency services on site were alerted.
A Garda source said the motive for the group of men who entered the building and got into a confrontation with people on the property is still under investigation.
Local gardaí made home visits to people living in the area on Sunday as part of the ongoing investigation.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who was in the Dock Road and Abbeylands Hill area of Arklow between 1pm and 2pm on Saturday and who may have seen something to come forward.
They have specifically asked any motorists in the area who may have dash cam footage to provide this footage to investigators.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Arklow Garda Station on 0402-32304 or the confidential Garda Hotline on 1800-666111.
