Two men arrested in connection with fatal attack on Limerick man Alan Bourke

Gardaí investigating Alan Bourke’s fatal attack in Limerick last week arrested two men in their 30s this afternoon.
The men are being held at Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda stations in connection with the attack that took place last week.
Mr Bourke (48) died after the attack on Parnell Street, Limerick, at around 10:25pm last Friday night.
Rescue workers rushed to the scene outside Colbert Station but Mr Bourke was pronounced dead at Limerick University Hospital a short time later.
His funeral service was held at St Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street, Limerick City on Friday morning and he was later buried in Castlemungret Cemetery, just yards from the football club he represented with honours.
After his death, a post-mortem was performed on Mr. Bourke’s body at UHL.
Gardaí analyzed CCTV footage from the area last Friday night to identify suspects.
Mr Bourke was a talented striker with Mungret Regional FC in the 1990s and represented Ireland at international youth level.
Mr Bourke is believed to have been living in Cork recently before his death.
