Two people are injured in an accident on the A27 in Wilmington

A section of the A27 was closed after a serious accident.

Emergency services attend the incident in Wilmington near Drusillas Park.

Crime scene pictures taken at around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, November 20 show police cars blocking the road.

The incident can be seen in the distance.

In a Twitter post, National Highways said: “The A27 near Polegate remains closed in both directions following a multi-vehicle collision between the A2270 and the A26.

“Sussex Police and salvage agents are present.

“Traffic will be diverted via local routes.”

A police spokeswoman confirmed that two people were injured in the incident.

She said: “Police were called just before 12.30pm on Sunday 20 November following reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the A27 in Wilimgton.

“The road was temporarily closed while vehicles were being recovered.

“Two people involved in the incident received minor injuries.”

“The road is now open.”
