Two people arrested after man threatened employee with hammer and robbed cash in Malahide, Co Dublin

COPS arrested two people following a robbery in Dublin last night.
A man entered a retail establishment in Waterside, Malahide armed with a hammer just before 10 p.m. and forced employees to open the door.
The man took some money before escaping in a waiting car outside the premises.
A man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s were arrested a short time later.
They were brought to two Dublin Garda Station, where both were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

In a statement released today, a Garda A spokesman said: “Gardaí arrested two people following a robbery in Malahide last night, Saturday 22 January 2022.
“Just before 10 p.m., a man entered a retail establishment in Waterside, Malahide carrying a hammer and forcing employees to open the door before proceeding to collect a cash deposit.
“He then left the scene in a waiting vehicle outside the premises. No staff members required medical treatment following the incident.

“A man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s were arrested a short time later and taken to two Dublin Garda stations, where they were both detained in accordance with Section 4 of the Act. Criminal Justice 1984.
“Investigations are underway.”
