Two people dead and a third seriously injured after a multi-vehicle collision in Co Monaghan

Two people died and a third was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision in Co Monaghan.

ardaí are currently at the scene of the incident, which involved two cars and a truck.

Gardaí said the collision occurred around 6.15pm this evening on the N2 at Mullaghanee, Castleblayney.

“The occupants of one of the cars, a man and a woman in their 60s, were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the second car, a woman in her 60s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda for treatment for her injuries, which are considered critical,” a Garda spokesman said.

The road is currently closed to allow for a technical investigation by forensic collision investigators and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí asks all witnesses to the collision to come forward.

All road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam footage, and who were traveling on the N2 at Castleblayney between 18.05 and 18.30 are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
