Two people injured in a fire at a four storey building in Hove

Two people were injured as firefighters battled a large blaze at a four-story building.

Emergency services were called to the fire at a flat in Eaton Gardens, Hove, at 11.2pm on Tuesday 9 August.

Firefighters from Brighton, Hove, Roedean and Lewes attended following reports of a fire, as well as crews from the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

“The fire was in the attic of a four storey building and two residents were placed in the care of emergency services,” said a spokesman for the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews were on site for around 7 hours to “ensure the fire was extinguished to counter any flare-ups and ensure the scene is safe”.

The cause of fire is not discovered yet.

Operations were shut down around 6.45am on Wednesday 10th August.

A spokeswoman for Brighton and Hove City Council said: “In the early hours of Wednesday morning, East Sussex Fire and Rescue Services were called to a large fire at the top of a four storey building, Eaton Court in Eaton Gardens.

“A recovery center has been set up to support the residents of the Norton Road Church. This has now been cancelled.

“Council staff were on site and worked closely with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Services, Sussex Police and the Red Cross to attend to the immediate needs of all local residents following the fire.”
