Two women were allegedly sexually assaulted while waiting in line to see the Queen lie in state, a court has heard.
Adio Adeshine, 19, reportedly stripped naked and pushed into mourners from behind as they waited in line at Victoria Tower Gardens on Wednesday night after Westminster Hall opened its doors to the public.
He is said to have entered the Thames to avoid police officers before re-emerging and being arrested.
Adeshine was remanded in custody on Friday after being charged in Westminster Magistrates’ Court with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of breaching a sexual harms prevention order.
Queues to see the late monarch have stretched for miles through central London in recent days as people flock from all corners of the UK to pay their respects.
The public queue for the Queen’s presence has started moving again after a 40 minute break when it had reached full capacity.
However, mourners were told by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) not to queue until at least 4pm on Friday.
Officials stopped people queuing at around 11.35am at the entrance to Southwark Park in south-east London due to overwhelming demand.
