HGTV star Ty Pennington explained on Instagram how Tuesday, just two days after attending the “Barbie” premiere in Los Angeles, upon waking from the “red carpet” he went to the ICU after “barely ‘ had breathed.
Pennington, best known as the host of “Extreme Makeover Home Edition‘ she shared in a post that he is ‘fine now’ and recovering after being intubated in intensive care earlier this week.

“It turns out that the sore throat I’ve had for the past month was actually an abscess that had grown so large it was blocking my airway,” he wrote.

The host added that he underwent surgery Wednesday before a Colorado hospital discharged him, citing his praise for the “amazing” staff at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood and St. Anthony Summit Hospital in Frisco .

HGTV’s “Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge” will feature fellow HGTV personalities alongside Pennington as teams compete to remodel a Southern California home to resemble one in Barbie’s world. according to network.
