Fury promises to give fans ‘a real treat’ ahead of Dillian Whyte fight

Tyson Fury used every inch of his height advantage as he towered over his rival Dillian Whyte in their first official meeting.

Fury and Whyte meet in the ring at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night after largely remaining silent beforehand. Fury locked himself away at his training base in Morecambe while Whyte flew to Portugal and skipped last month’s announcement press conference and yesterday’s open training session.

But Whyte, who is five inches shorter than Fury at 6ft 4in, attended a low-key press conference in the shadow of the National Stadium. “I’m happy to be here,” he said. “Sorry I couldn’t be here earlier but I’m here now so let’s go. It means everything to me to fight in my home country, especially at Wembley as it’s not too far from home. It’s a big fight and like Tyson said we didn’t expect to be here, neither did I.

“I’ve always taken risks, a few slips along the way, but I’m here and ready to go.” “There are two sides to every story, you often hear one side because one side says a lot of things. The fight was signed, but other things were happening behind the scenes.

“I just have to go and do my thing. I take every day as it comes, because with my life story, every day is a blessing for me, my life has been hard.”

Fury added: “The fight is here, the big night is just days away. Dillian has landed, boys are here, light cam action,” Fury said. “Training went well, I started training in January. We spent seven weeks together, we had great preparation.

“I never have any complaints. We do what we do in training camps and we do our best at night. Dillian is a good fighter and the fans will be happy. I know Dillian and we’re going to throw down the night and charge the fans.”
