After an indefinite delay and months without an update, Ubisoft has announced that it is postponing development of its much-anticipated one Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake at his studio in Montréal, Canada. Ubisoft also confirmed this The edge that it no longer seeks a release in fiscal year 2023, which ends March 31, 2023 in Canada. The game has been in the works at Ubisoft’s Indian studios in Mumbai and Pune since 2020.
“Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake development will now be led by Ubisoft Montréal, the actual birthplace of the epic Sands of Time trilogy,” reads Ubisoft’s initial Announcement on Twitter reads. “This decision is an important step and the team, building on the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time it takes to regroup across the scope of the game to ensure the best experience for it Remake of an all-time classic when it’s done.”
Outside of support on games like just dance and Steep, The Sands of Time Remake marks the first major title to be led by Ubisoft Mumbai and Pune studios. Ubisoft didn’t elaborate on what prompted it to swap studios.
“We are proud of the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their insights as the new team will continue the work to deliver a great remake,” said Ubisoft spokesperson Antoine Leduc-Labelle in to an explanation The edge. “As such, we are no longer targeting a FY23 release. Players will be kept updated on the project as development progresses.”
The Sands of Time Specifically, Remake is said to be a remaster of the game – not just a reskin – powered by Ubisoft’s AnvilNext engine. The release was originally planned for January 2021 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. There’s no word yet on optimization for the Series X/S or PS5.
Issues related to pandemics prompted Ubisoft to push The Sands of TimeIt had been a few months since it was released before it was later decided to postpone the game’s release indefinitely. Ubisoft’s latest update about the game came out in October last year, which only reassured fans that the developers were still working on the game.
