UFC middleweight Paulo Costa has claimed Jake Paul is his “hero” after calling out Michael Bisping and Jorge Masvidal to boxing matches.

Paul is eyeing a return to the boxing ring in August and has called for a fight with Masvidal in either the UFC or the boxing ring after their previous friendship turned sour. Most recently, the YouTube star has called for a boxing meet-up with Bisping, who recently suggested he fight UFC legend Anderson Silva instead.

Brazil star Costa surprisingly praised the YouTube star on social media, tweeting: ” Jake-Paul is my hero, mentor and idol.” The comment came after Paul unleashed a lengthy and explosive rant after falling short in his calls to fight with Masvidal and Bisping.

“I also think it’s a dumb call [Bisping]’ Paul told reporters. “This is an easy fight for me, it’s a one round fight, he’s an old man. His scathing threat came after his exchange of verbal jabs with Bisping on Twitter, where the British star claimed it could obtain a license to attend a ring meeting. Paul named Bisping and Masvidal on a six-man hit list for his future boxing plans, which the British star has now made a “personal” suggestion to try to stimulate conversation.

Masvidal has recently signed a new contract with the UFC and they are unlikely to be able to fight a fight with Paul despite their rivalry.
