Paddy Pimblett insists his success won’t go to his head – because he’s not a Tory.
The UFC lightweight earned his second win of the promotion with an assist from Kazula Vargas in the first round on Saturday night in London.
The Liverpool native has quickly become a fan favorite – but is confident his background will keep him from going off track.
“Coming from Liverpool… we’re not Tories, we don’t get beyond ourselves,” he said when asked how he would keep his feet on the ground.
“My city keeps me grounded. I hope I end up making as much money as I do Conor McGregor and no kid in my town will ever eat from a slate again.

“I mean, I’m going to give something back to my city. Something I’ve been planning for the past few months is to start my own charity and I think after this fight I’ll make it happen.”
Fans were quick to praise his attitude, saying: “What an ambassador for Liverpool. Puts on a top performance, mentions Anfield, pays tribute to his sidekick YNWA, calls out the Tories and cries for justice. This guy is the real deal.”
Another added: “Good to see Pimblett remembering Hillsborough, I share the same feelings about the Tories.”
Pimblett, a Liverpool fan, was attended by Everton and Manchester United Legend Wayne Rooney after his win.

Toffee Molly McCann, who scored a stunning KO earlier in the night, also received praise from the Derby manager.
“I saw what you were doing so I had to come,” said the former England striker.
Pimblett and McCann had another reason to celebrate after being named as two of nine fighters who earned a $50,000 bonus for their stoppage wins.
