UK Conservative MP Neil Parish resigns after admitting to watching porn – POLITICO

British Conservative politician Neil Parish has said he will step down as MP after admitting he had twice seen pornography in the Chamber of Commons.

Parish, the MP for Tiverton and Honiton and chairman of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee in the House of Commons, was suspended by the Conservative Party on Friday.

Community said the BBC on Saturday that watching porn was a “insane moment” and “I wasn’t proud of what I was doing.”

He said the first time was accidental, but the second was on purpose.

“What I did was absolutely wrong,” he said.

In an emailed statement, a spokesman for Tiverton and Honiton Conservatives said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Neil Parish for his service to our communities over the past twelve years.”

“We support his decision to step down as our MP,” the spokesman said.

Calls for a tougher approach to upholding standards in Parliament have come to the fore in recent weeks following more recent revelations of wrongdoing and misogyny.
