UK Conservative MP suspended over allegations of viewing pornography in Parliament – POLITICO

LONDON – A British Conservative MP has been suspended from the party after he was accused of viewing pornography in the House of Commons.

Neil Parish, Chair of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee, is facing an investigation by the Standards Committee and the independent complaints system.

A spokesman for the Chief Whip said: “Having spoken to the Chief Whip this afternoon, Neil Parish MP is reporting to the Standards Committee of the House of Commons.”

They added that Parish has been suspended from the Conservative lash pending the outcome of that investigation.

The allegation was made at a meeting of Conservative MPs on Tuesday aimed at improving the gender balance in Parliament, where participants shared stories of sexism and sexual harassment in Westminster.

It comes after two weeks of revelations of misconduct and misogyny allegations in Parliament, which have prompted many to call for tougher action to uphold standards.
