But the effects of overheating can be devastating to an iPhone.

Even Apple has warned that overheating your iPhone could “permanently decrease” battery life.

Keep your iPhone in direct sunlight

First, you shouldn’t leave your iPhone in direct sunlight for a long time.

This is especially true if you continue to use the iPhone in direct sunlight.

“With a iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently decrease battery life,” Apple said in a support post.

Don’t let your iPhone overheat

On hot days, an iPhone can very easily exceed its normal operating temperature.

Apple has some specific warnings about things you definitely shouldn’t be doing with your iPhone today:

  • Leave the device in the car on a hot day
  • Expose the device to direct sunlight for a long period of time
  • Use of certain functions in heat or direct sunlight for a long period of time, e.g. B. GPS tracking or navigating in a car, playing a graphics-intensive game, or using augmented reality apps

There are ways to reduce your risk, even on very warm days.

For example, don’t keep your iPhone in tight places like under the covers or in your pocket.

Phones also heat up faster when using mobile data rather than over a Wi-Fi connection.

And when you’re on a call, the phone’s temperature also rises – mostly because your blower is in your warm hands.

Don’t give your iPhone a chance to cool down

When your iPhone gets too hot, you’ll know.

Apple forces iPhone to shut down when temperatures get too high.

Before the automatic shutdown, you will see a temperature warning.

It says “Temperature. iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it.”

If you feel your phone is getting warm, stop using it — or even turn it off.

Avoid using powerful apps for long periods of time. This is especially important for gamers, as gaming apps can cause a phone’s processor to heat up very quickly.

If a forced shutdown occurs, move your iPhone to a cool place quickly.
