Brits are set for some wet and windy days but temperatures are set to rise in early July and could hit 30C next week.

Unsettled weather is the forecast for this week, with the west of the country taking the brunt of the showers which could be heavy in Scotland today.

The Met Office has a yellow warning for rain, which runs from 2am to 6pm on Tuesday.

It states: “A heavy rainy spell on Tuesday may cause minor flooding in south-west Scotland.”

It added: “Flooding of some homes and businesses is possible. Bus and train services likely to be impacted as journey times take longer. Road spray and flooding are likely to increase travel times.”

It’s supposed to continue raining from Wednesday

BBC weather forecaster Susan Powell called it a “mixed bag” in the coming days.

“It’s looking like a mix of sunshine but also some pretty heavy showers at times sweeping across the UK,” she said.

“The whole week has been very low pressure driven, we will see various areas of low pressure entering the north west of the UK. A few more organized rain bands are pushed in at times, and then shower bands interspersed with bright spells, followed by some heavy and thundery downpours.

The weather should improve and heat up again by the weekend

“A fairly wet day for Tuesday initially for Northern Ireland, later brightening but with some thunderstorms, rain moving in western Scotland, north west England down to Cornwall in the afternoon. A few light showers are possible in the Midlands and the far south east of England.”

She added that it will also be a blustery day with winds up to 40mph in the west.

Then Wednesday rain moves across the UK and is therefore more widespread with temperatures cooler than the average for the year.
