The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings tomorrow, with thunderstorms and torrential downpours expected with up to 60mm of rain in two or three hours
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms and torrential downpours.
The UK is currently basking in another mini-heatwave, with temperatures potentially reaching 27C on Thursday.
But tomorrow’s weather will be far from clear skies and summer heat.
The warning is in effect from 10am until midnight on Thursday and will cover much of the UK.
Thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and early evening.
In some places up to 60mm of rain could be seen for two or three hours.
The Met Office statement said: “While most locations are likely to miss them, where thunderstorms do occur there is a chance of up to 40mm of rain in around an hour and 40 to 60mm in two hours in some places Rain can fall or three hours.
“These torrential downpours may be accompanied by frequent lightning, while gusty winds and hail may also affect some locations.
“The exact location of the thunderstorms will be difficult to determine, so the warning area will be reviewed and updated as necessary.”
