Ukraine thwarts ‘Russian plot to carry out fake flag attacks on cities’ that may have sparked Putin’s invasion

UKRAINE has debunked an alleged Russian plot to carry out a string of false flag attacks on cities that could have been a prelude to invasion.
Kiev claims it has destroyed a group of saboteurs that are being “coordinated by Russian special services” to carry out the attacks.
Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, said the group was planning attacks on city infrastructure to “destabilize” the border area.
It comes amid repeated warnings of a potential Russian false flag attack that would be used as a pretext for an invasion.
The United States has warned that Moscow could create an incident in Ukraine that could then see an invasion as a reasonable response.
Fears of war in the region grew as Putin sent more than 100,000 troops to the border with Ukraine.
The world is currently on the brink of the biggest conflict in Europe since World War 2.
Boris Johnson last night urged President Putin to back down from the brink of a “painful, violent and bloody” invasion of Ukraine.
The prime minister has warned of Russia’s plans for a “lightning war” that could hit the capital Kiev.
Nato ordered fighter jets and battleships to the conflict zone as President Joe Biden pondered a plan to send about 50,000 US troops into Eastern Europe to prevent a bloodbath.
And today, Defense Secretary James Heappey warned that there are figures with Russian military connections in Ukraine.
But he said Britain was fully behind Ukraine in the same way it supported Poland during World War W, and said the Prime Minister had sent them “more than warm words”.
Boris has ruled out sending British troops to the war but will provide arms support to Ukraine and support a series of Western economic sanctions against Russia.
