Ukrainian army destroyed $670 million worth of Russian equipment in one week: report

According to a report, in just one week, the Ukrainian army destroyed more than $670 million worth of Russian war equipment, a significant portion of which was destroyed during the counteroffensive in Kharkiv Oblast.

Between September 6 and September 11, the Russian army lost 86 tanks, 158 armored fighting vehicles, 106 artillery systems, 159 vehicles and 46 units of other war equipment, reported Ukraine’s Forbes, citing data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF).

The most expensive piece of equipment lost in the war over the past week was the Moskva-1 electronic warfare complex, valued at at least $57 million. The equipment was destroyed in the Zaporizhia region, the report said.

According to the estimate, the Russian military also lost a Su-34 fighter-bomber worth $36 million and a Zoopark-1M counter-battery radar system worth $25 million.

Aside from the destroyed military equipment, the Russian army also lost at least $104 million worth of war machines after they were seized by the Ukrainians. From September 6 to September 10, the Ukrainian army seized 129 pieces of equipment, including nine Msta-S and Msta-B howitzers worth more than $43 million, the assessment said, citing analysis project Oryx.

Last month, Ukraine’s Forbes also published a separate assessment stating that Russia’s armed forces had already lost a total of $16 billion worth of war hardware between February and August.

Late last month, an analysis by The Insider said that wartime Russian forces may soon face shortages of ammunition and armored vehicles as Ukrainian forces continue equipment destruction. Should Russia remain at the current level of war intensity, it would likely have to reduce its use of artillery to conserve ammunition.

The assessments come as the Ukrainian army’s counter-offensive continues to show success, particularly in the direction of Kharkiv. Ukrainian officials claim to have recaptured about 270 square miles of territory and over 30 settlements in the region, including the occupied cities of Izium, Balakliya and Kupiansk.

US analysts at the Institute for the Study of War reported Monday that since September 6, Ukrainian forces have liberated more than 3,000 square kilometers and breached Russian positions in some areas to a depth of 70 kilometers. Analysts noted that Ukrainian troops have captured more territory than Russian troops in their operations since April.
