Sofiia Karkadym, 22, had fled Ukraine to Bradford, West Yorkshire, but became embroiled in a bitter love feud when the father-of-two who took her in left his longtime girlfriend for her
A Ukrainian refugee has fiercely denied claims that she is a “homewrecker” after beginning a relationship with the long-term partner of a woman who gave her refuge in the UK.
Sofiia Karkadym, 22, fled the Russian invasion and traveled from Lviv to Bradford, West Yorkshire to stay with Lorna Garnett, 28, and her boyfriend of eight, Tony.
The Ukrainian IT worker made headlines in her home country and here in the UK after Lorna accused her of eloping with her husband – just 10 days after staying at their home with the couple’s two children.
But Sofiia broke down in tears when she insisted she was not a housewife and claimed Lorna had rounded her up with constant suspicion. The sun reports.
She said: “Your constant suspicion, the tension, it just brought me and Tony closer.
“She created this situation by constantly implying that something was going on when it wasn’t. So this is her fault.”
Earlier this week, Lorna had told reporters that she had concerns about letting a stranger into her home but decided it was right to help the people of Ukraine.
But the mum claimed she became wary when she noted Sofiia had “no interest” in speaking to her and was only concerned with her looks, including donning “red lipstick and low-cut tops” when Tony came home from work.
Lorna snapped and threw Sofiia out of her home but said she was devastated when Tony packed his bags to follow her, leaving their eight-year relationship behind.

When quizzed about the love triangle, Tony admitted “s**t hit the fan”, but claimed he couldn’t fight his feelings for Sofiia and that it was “love at first sight”.
But while Lorna says she was left heartbroken, Sofiia claims she was shamed by her country and her own family, who have told her they “cannot go out” because of her actions.
Sofiia defended their romance, saying the pair “destroyed their relationship long before” she arrived in the UK earlier this month.
But the devastated fugitive said she was berated by trolls who accused her of discouraging British families from taking in Ukrainians in their desperate hour of need.
She said: “They say that because of me nobody will take Ukrainians in Britain.
“Any British family will now be thinking, ‘I can’t take a refugee because she’s going to take my husband away from me’.”
Sofiia from Kyiv emotionally shared her memories of the first day of the Russian invasion in February and explained how much her life had changed in an instant.
Forced to leave her job, routine and friends behind, Sofiia decided her safest option was to seek refuge in the UK and posted her application for a sponsorship on the Opora Homes for Ukraine website in April .
After logging on to the site, Tony claimed he first came across Sofiia’s details, but was frustrated at how slow the process was going and began discussing the move via Facebook.

Sofia traveled from Ukraine to Germany before landing in Manchester on May 4th, where she was met by Tony.
After her horrific ordeal, Sofiia claimed all she wanted was someone to talk to, but claimed Lorna would ask why Tony spent time watching TV with her guest every night.
The couple admitted they were “attracted to each other” but respected the boundaries and insisted “nothing happened” until they left Lorna and her home.
Sofiia added that she decided to leave after Lorna “complained every day” and tensions mounted – adding that it was Tony’s decision to follow her.
Tony claimed “it was a no-brainer,” adding that he “would rather be on his ass and happy.”
