Ulrika Jonsson recounts the abortion, saying she doesn’t regret her decision and wants others to have the same freedom of choice for her.

It comes amid concerns that the court ruling Roe v. Wade since 1973 could make people in some states of the United States not have the legal right to have an abortion.

This ability has prompted Ulrika, 54, to speak candidly about her own experience, with the presenter revealing that she ended her pregnancy in the 1990s.

She said it happened around the same time as her father’s sudden death, while she was just going through a divorce and when she was in the early stages of a relationship.

Ulrika – who had a 15-month-old son at the time of her abortion in 1996 – wrote about the circumstances surrounding the decision in a column dedicated to sun.

She said the contraceptive had “failed” for her and recalled that she was “not ready to have or prepare for another child”, she chose to terminate the contract instead.

“There’s not a shred of doubt in my mind,” she said. The former Gladiators presenter added that she doesn’t have any guilt about her decision, saying it was “clarity”.

She said her body wasn’t ready for pregnancy, with an “even worse” mind. Ulrika explained that the result was “no trauma” surrounding her decision.

The presenter said in a recent column that this was because she felt it was her right to proceed with the procedure. “Most importantly, it’s my choice,” she commented.

Ulrika – now with four children – said she was “lucky”, noting that for many people the decision is not always simple and often leads to feelings of “guilt” and “regret”.

She continued to discuss Roe v. Wade, ruling in 1973 that state regulation of abortion was illegal. However, states were able to limit the timing of a possible termination.

Ulrika, like many other commentators, said that abuse of power would “deprive women of the right to abortion” in the US because power would rest with individual states.

It is feared that some states will ban abortion altogether if Roe’s lawsuit against Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court. Estimates suggest as many as 26 states could outlaw it.

Ulrika said even banning it after the first weeks of pregnancy is “outrageous”, saying it takes us back to a time when “women had no authority or autonomy” over their bodies.

The presenter explained that she was offered a second termination in the early 2000s when a health problem was discovered with her unborn daughter – although she declined. .

“If I felt that terminating the contract was the right decision for me, I would have accepted it. But I did not and she is now 21 years old. It is my choice.” she commented.

She said termination shouldn’t be seen as the “easiest choice” but it is the right to make choices for yourself, ensuring that she will always be the advocate of choice.
