The Pogues paid tribute to their bassist Darryl Hunt, who has passed away aged 72.

The musician passed away yesterday afternoon in London.

The band wrote on Twitter: “Our grief is beyond words. Our Darryl passed away yesterday afternoon in London.

“Darryl Gatwick Hunt May 4, 1950 – August 8, 2022.

“‘I know you want to hear me breathe, I love you to the end.'”

The musician was born in Hampshire, England in 1950 and started playing with The Pogues as their bass player in 1986.

He made his debut on the band’s 1988 album If I Should Fall From Grace with God, which featured their huge hit. New York’s fairy tale.
