It started after an update to the Google Play Store last week that saw a redesign of the platform’s account menu.

Part of the upgrade is a new menu that shows your Google Store balance when you tap your profile avatar.

This credit can be spent on apps, games and other software for devices running Google’s popular Android operating system.

Shortly after the update, users on social media reported that their revamped account page showed a $500 balance.

However, when they tried to spend their newfound riches, the funds disappeared at the last checkout step.

A user on Reddit wrote on Sunday, “I have $500 in Google Store credit even though I’ve never made a Google Store purchase.

“I also can’t spend the credit when I’m asked to use my card with no other option when checking out. Is this a bug?”

In a comment below the post, a Redditor said they had the same issue.

They wrote: “It seems to be an error when the account settings page shows the balance as $0, but for some reason this menu shows the balance as $500.”

Corresponding 9to5Googlethe error is the result of a user interface error that occurs when you have funds in your account.

The release was able to replicate the issue with three separate accounts.

It’s unclear if the issue only affects US users or has spread more widely.

The Sun reached out to Google for comment.

The company has made a number of changes to its services over the past few weeks to make life easier for its billions of users.

Google announced last weekfor example, making it easier to remove sensitive information about you from search results.

Email contacts and other data can also be removed from the results. The move aims to protect people’s privacy and security online.
