It’s due to sloppy pins on the connector that aren’t the right size.

The Product Safety and Standards Office has issued an official warning that the product does not meet electrical safety regulations.

Amazon appears to have withdrawn the product from its website.

But those who have already bought it are told to stop using the accessory immediately.

The item is manufactured by a Chinese company called AXIULOO, which has no affiliation with Apple.

The full product name is: AXIULOO 20W USB-C Fast Charging Connector for iPhone 13/13 Mini/13 Pro/13 Pro Max/ 12/12 Mini/12 Pro/12 Pro Max/ 11/ SE 2020.

If you are unsure, check your Amazon order records for the product’s ASIN number, which is B08NTJ7XHP.

Giuseppe Capanna, product safety engineer for charity Electrical Safety First, told The Sun: “If you own this product, stop using it immediately.

“Not only does this charger pose a very real risk of electrocution, the product has also been linked to a fire.”

Experts have long warned of the dangers of buying cheap knockoffs online.

It’s not clear how many people have already bought the charger, but nearly 6,000 reviews were left for it on Amazon before it was pulled from the market.

“Online marketplaces are full of dodgy electronics and this will continue to be a problem until the government changes the law to ensure online marketplaces are responsible for the safety of the goods sold on their websites,” added Capanna.

“Stick to reputable high street retailers to avoid putting yourself at risk.”

The official warning reads: “The product poses a serious risk of electric shock as the mains plug does not conform to the dimensional requirements of BS 1363.

“The width of the line and neutral pins was found to be outside the required limits of 6.22mm to 6.48mm.

“There was also a known fire caused by the product due to the non-compliant plug.”
