Urgent recall of well-known brands of backpacks and coolers due to risk of serious injury or death
YETI has recalled three products from its range due to the risk of “serious injury or death”.
The popular brand has pulled soft backpack coolers, tote bags and gear cases from their stores.
The Hopper M20 Backpack, Hopper M30 2.0 Carry Case and Sidekick Dry Gear Case are all affected by the recall.
There are around 105 affected products in the Republic of Ireland, according to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
The recalled products feature a main bag closure lined with high-power magnets encased in a heat-sealed plastic strip.
The recalled radiators and gearboxes were sold in a variety of colors and with the YETI brand name on the front.
A notice issued by the CCPC warns: “The risk posed by these products is injury.
“The magnet-lined latches on certain soft backpack coolers, tote bags, and gear cases can fail and detach the magnets, posing a risk of serious injury or death if the magnets are swallowed.”
Due to the high level of risk the products pose, consumers have been urged to immediately stop using the recalled Yeti coolers and gearboxes.
