Urgent Roblox alert for MILLIONS as hack ‘gives crooks your private information’

MILLIONS of Roblox players have been warned about a malicious hack that can steal personal information.

The safety warning is particularly worrying considering how many children are part of the popular online platform.

Experts claim that they found a shady Trojan horse file that can wreak havoc on users’ PCs.

But Roblox has hit back at the report, calling it “misleading” because it’s an issue with a third-party program, not them.

It’s called Synapse X and it’s used for cheat codes.

Once a backdoor is installed, a hacker can interrupt applications and destroy or take your data.

Avanan, who found the exploit, said it was discovered in a customer’s OneDrive and it’s possible the customer “accidentally uploaded it.”

“Besides the ability to interrupt applications and eavesdrop on files, the fact that Roblox is primarily played by children is of particular concern about this attack,” the company warned.

“This means it can easily be installed on a PC that may have little or no antivirus protection.”

Experts say it also poses a risk for businesses with so many now working from home.

“It is not unreasonable to think that children could play Roblox on their parents’ computer and install the file,” the company continued.

“This malicious file perfectly illustrates the importance of Zero Trust security.

“In this unequal work-from-home era, threats are everywhere — even in children’s games.”

Avanan said it reached out to Roblox about the issue.

Roblox told The Sun: “This report presents a misleading picture of this exploit being in Synapse X, not Roblox.

“Using third-party services to bypass certain systems is also a violation of our Terms of Service.

“Roblox maintains many systems to ensure the safety of our users, and we prohibit attempts to circumvent these systems or otherwise violate our platform requirements.”

Users have been advised not to download files from shady websites and ensure they use malware scanning tools on file sharing apps like OneDrive or Google Drive.
