The headmaster at Woodfield Primary School in Balby, Doncaster sent an urgent email to let parents know about the incident
A primary school has issued an urgent warning to parents after two mysterious men tried to kidnap girls outside the gates.
Woodfield Primary School in Balby, Doncaster has sent an urgent email to inform parents of the worrying incident.
A spokesman for Woodfield Primary School confirmed both children are safe at home.
One of the men was arrested by South Yorkshire Police and the other escaped, the headmaster told concerned parents in an email.
In a statement, they stressed the need for special vigilance.
It read: “You may already know from reports on social media but we were informed this morning that two men tried to snatch two primary school aged children from Weston Road last night.
“One was caught and arrested, the other escaped. Luckily both girls are safe.
“Please be extra vigilant and make sure you report anything unusual directly to the police.
“We strongly recommend that all children are picked up from school by an adult over the age of 18.”
The school’s message was widely shared on Facebook by concerned parents.
It came after police received a report earlier this month of an attempted kidnapping less than a few miles away.
It is alleged that a man has kidnapped a young boy from his father in a park on Armthorpe Road, Doncaster.
It was reported that a man ran with the boy for a short while before the father caught up with him.
The distraught father grabbed his son back before calling the police.
The boy was taken to the hospital but had no serious injuries, sources said.
