The breach is so bad that 2K has been forced to temporarily shut down its support department.

“Please do not open emails or click on links received from the 2K Games support account,” the company told users.

“We deeply apologize for any inconvenience and disruption this matter may cause.”

The scammer made it after they managed to get credentials for one of the 2K vendors that help in providing customer support.

At the moment it is not clear how many people are already affected.

Anyone who has already clicked a link from them has been urged to make a number of changes as a matter of urgency.

First, you should reset any user account passwords stored in your web browser.

Enable multi-factor authentication — a feature that requires more than a password for access — for important accounts like email and banking.

Run your antivirus software to check for suspicious content.

And check the account settings in your personal email to see if any forwarding rules have been added or changed.

Latest headache for GTA owners

It’s been a rough week for Take Two, 2K’s parent company.

Rockstar, also owned by Take Two, suffered a massive breach of its most valuable franchise, GTA.

Nearly a hundred revealing videos of the unreleased GTA 6 game were leaked onto the internet over the weekend.

The gaming giant was forced to take a mass shutdown on YouTube and other sites as the videos spread.

The person who claims to be behind the attack says they have more data and may reveal it soon.

They boast of having highly sensitive material, including source code for GTA 5 and GTA 6, as well as assets and test builds for the new game.

Although it is not clear what the alleged perpetrator wants from the company, they wrote on a forum that they are “trying to negotiate a deal”.

The FBI and the US Department of Justice are now investigating the incident.
