The option dials 911 if you don’t answer after a certain amount of time.

An AI voice then speaks to emergency services and tells them your location.

“The owner of this iPhone was in a serious car accident and is not responding to his phone,” the chilling message reads.

An unsuspecting thrill-seeker didn’t realize what happened until she was in the bumper cars.

Sara White, 39, recounted this Wall Street Journal that she called back to say everything was fine, but the Warren County communications center had already dispatched a team rushing to Kings Island amusement park outside of Cincinnati.

Authorities say they’ve received false positives in the same spot since the iPhone 14 launched.

Crash Detection uses various sensors and displays an on-screen warning if you think you’ve been in a car accident.

You will receive a 10 second warning, then a final 10 second countdown will begin with an alarm tone.

Once that expires, the iPhone will automatically dial 911 and tell the carrier your location.

It is also alert for any emergency contacts you have saved on your iPhone as they will receive a text letting them know.

An Apple representative told The Wall Street Journal that the crash-detection algorithms use over a million hours of crash data, real-world driving and crash-test labs to spot potential incidents.

They said it was “extremely accurate at detecting major accidents”.

Warren County Director of Emergency Services Melissa Bour told the publication, “We are very vigilant about calls.

“No call is not checked.

“You get used to calls that aren’t an emergency but are a wear and tear for the dispatchers.”

iPhone 14 owners can avoid a similar mistake by not going on trips with their devices in their pockets.

Or you can turn on Airplane mode.
