Vacation couple meets Tom Cruise while filming Mission: Impossible

A couple described their excitement at meeting Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise as he performed his own paragliding stunts for the latest film Mission: Impossible.

Adam Wheeler and Lucy Hinch were walking their Siberian Husky Blitz in the Lake District when they happened to be filming scenes for the next movie in the action series on Cruise.

The 60-year-old, who was flown to High Cragg by helicopter before flying down to Buttermere, happily posed for a photo with the couple before thanking them and jumping off again.

Adam said: “He was nice and polite and very humble. Tom Cruise apologized for the noise from the helicopters and asked if we were ok.

“He made sure everyone who wanted to got their photos with him. We were the last to take a picture of him and then he just paraglided off the mountain back to his camp next to Buttermere.”

He added: “I’ve seen some of the ‘Mission Impossible’ movies but not really a lot of his others – but I definitely will now.

“It was a real pleasure to meet one of the most famous Hollywood stars out there – one of the richest as well.

“It wasn’t what we expected as we were walking on the fells.”

The pair first became aware something was afoot when they saw helicopters multiple times fly Cruise to High Cragg – unaware it was him.

Adam, from Castle Barnard, County Durham, said: “He did all his stunts himself. He was flown up by a helicopter and then another filmed him paragliding. “As we were walking down Haystacks and High Cragg, we passed some people who were like, ‘You know Tom Cruise is up there?’

“They were really excited and said he was going to take a picture with viewers people, so we thought let’s move on, hopefully we’ll catch him.

“There was no sign of him when we got there and one of his crew members told us he could be a while so we thought we’d hang in there.

“We waited about an hour and decided to leave when there was no sign of him showing up. We were down about 5-10 minutes when two helicopters came up.

“We thought right, if that’s Tom Cruise, we’ll turn back. When Lucy spotted him we decided to go over and see if we could take a picture.

“He wanted to take a picture with another family, so we just waited our turn.

“We joked that we waited an hour for him and came back specially. He just laughed and said thank you for coming back.”

The next Mission Impossible is scheduled for release on July 7, 2023.

Meanwhile, Cruise recently made headlines after showing off his daredevil skills and performing a stunt in South Africa.

He was filmed on a small WW2 biplane while flying in the air over the Blyde River Canyon in South Africa. Vacation couple meets Tom Cruise while filming Mission: Impossible
