The chaos continues at Stansted Airport in Essex today (Tues) with long queues and passengers sleeping on the floors.
Passengers at Stansted Airport faced queues for three hours

Londoners arriving at Stansted Airport train station had to queue for three and a half hours on Thursday after just three staff members were assigned to check train tickets.

Photos from the scene show the station completely deadlocked as hundreds of people waited for their tickets to be checked.

Airports and train stations struggle to cope with the influx of incoming passengers during the holidays. MyLondon reports.

One person took to social media to speak out about the situation, saying: “3.5 hours early for my flight to Sweden and this is why.

“At Stansted Airport, train tickets are checked on arrival. There are three people checking tickets for all these people…”

In another update, the passenger said: “I’m in the terminal and the security line is moving VERY fast. Stansted hasn’t been bombed with airport chaos in a while and so far so good.”

Still other tweets indicated that queues could be seen at the airport as early as 3:30 a.m. today.

However, other tweets suggested that queues could be seen at the airport as early as 3.30am today, prompting one person to urge holidaymakers to arrive in Stansted as soon as possible.

They said: “3.30am at Stansted Airport…. It looks very full… and these are just departures. Urge everyone to get to the airport as early as possible!”

This was announced by a spokesman for Stansted Airport MyLondon The airport expects 45,000 departing passengers today.

However, the ticket inspection queues are said to “flow fast”.

Stansted is just one of many travel hubs facing chaos.

Yesterday, for the second day in a row, Eurostar travelers had to queue for hours at St Pancras International station.

On Saturday (28 May), London Gatwick Airport had to cancel almost 250 flights to cope with demand for flights during the June bank holiday and May half term.
