Valentine’s Day warning to drivers as a ‘sweet date night’ could see you fined £2.5k and banned from driving

DRIVERS have been warned a ‘cute date night’ on Valentine’s Day could risk a £2,500 fine.
Car date videos have been viewed a billion times on TikTok – prompting many others to do the same.
But if you’re tempted to snuggle up in your car for the night, you need to know the rules.
Wild camping is illegal in most parts of England and Wales without the express consent of the landowner.
This applies to tents, mobile homes, cars or any other form of temporary accommodation.
But you’ll probably be asked to move on – instead of being slapped with a fine, The Liverpool Echo reports.
If you’re thinking of combining your time in the car with alcoholic beverages, this is where the problems start.
If you go over the limit and sleep in your car, you could be charged with “drinking and driving a powered vehicle.”
This can result in a fine of £2,500 and a possible driving ban.
Also up to three months imprisonment.
And drivers who simply stand next to their car under the influence of alcohol can also be fined with the same amount.
If you’ve consumed more than the legal alcohol limit, you shouldn’t even touch your car.
Under English law it is possible to be charged with drunk driving without actually being behind the wheel.
