A man has been charged with the murder of a woman, who police have now named.
Sabrina Cooper, 68, has been identified as a victim of the murder investigation after she was found dead at an address on Connaught Road, Eastbourne on Sunday December 18.
Tony King, 59, of Cornfield Terrace, Eastbourne, who police say was known to Sabrina, has been charged with murder and possession of an assault weapon in a public place.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (December 21).
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Emma Vickers said: “Our thoughts are with Sabrina’s family and friends at this difficult time. We support them and keep them informed of the progress of this fast-paced investigation.
“We understand that this incident will also cause excitement and concern in the community and I would like to reassure people that this is being treated as an isolated incident involving people who know each other and with no threat to the general public .
“We have already conducted an extensive investigation and this has resulted in one person being arrested and charged within 48 hours of police first visiting the address. These investigations will continue while the case goes to trial and we encourage anyone with any concerns or information regarding the incident to contact us.”
