Video of a man throwing roof tiles from a building in Hove

This is the moment a man was caught on video throwing roof tiles from a six-story building.

Bricks were thrown from the roof of a block of flats on the corner of Cambridge Road and Lansdowne Road in Hove on Sunday afternoon.

The standoff lasted more than three hours, and a police negotiator tried to calm the man down.

He “refused to interact with officers and began throwing objects at them from the roof.”

One of these tiles hit an officer.

The 27-year-old man from Hove is said to have gotten out in exchange for a cigarette.

He was arrested without incident and taken into custody where he remained yesterday.

He was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an ambulance.

A witness told The Argus he called out a “chanting list of prisons he thought he might be sent to”.

He can be heard saying “f*** you” before shouting “Take me to Wandsworth, High Down,” two prisons in the South East.

It was alleged that one of the tiles smashed a window in a nearby apartment.

The witness added: “He came down alone with the arrangement of a cigarette. If only it had been sooner.” Video of a man throwing roof tiles from a building in Hove
